Why Meliopus Is More Relevant Than Ever After 10 Years

Meliopus turns ten. A milestone worth looking back on, but even more, a moment to look ahead. Because this anniversary is not only about where we came from. It clearly shows why our vision on work and work environments matters more today than ever before.

Some history

The origins of Meliopus: work happiness as a starting point

Meliopus was founded on a simple yet powerful belief: work should play a positive role in people’s lives. Employees spend a large part of their time at work. When they don’t feel good there, the impact doesn’t stop at the office door: it affects their wellbeing beyond work as well.

Johnny, Filip and Raf experienced this first-hand. Through their years of experience at previous employers and their shared journey at AXA, they built strong expertise in facility management and work environments. At the same time, they saw how often processes, structures and efficiency took priority over the people behind the work. Meliopus was founded to restore that balance and put people back at the centre of how organisations operate.

Ten years of evolution in work and work environments

The past decade has been transformative; for Meliopus and for the world around us. After a period of steady growth, we welcomed our first employee in 2018. Not long after, a major breakthrough followed with the project for PwC’s new Brussels headquarters. That project marked a clear acceleration in scale, complexity and team growth.

From 2020 onwards, COVID fundamentally changed how organisations look at work and workplaces. For many companies, this period brought uncertainty and standstill. For Meliopus, it became a moment of acceleration. Organisations were forced to rethink their work environments, work culture and ways of collaborating. Questions around hybrid working, wellbeing and flexibility moved to the forefront, exactly where Meliopus’ people-centred vision naturally belongs.

Even in the economically uncertain years that followed, Meliopus continued to grow. Thanks to long-term partnerships with clients such as C&A and Larcier Intersentia, and the start of the facility agent contract at ING, a new growth phase began. Our team expanded from twelve to thirty-five people. This growth brought not only more capacity, but also a strong professionalisation of expertise, internal processes and (IT) tools. Think of our service desk and data warehouse, which allow clients to monitor their facility data in one clear platform and gain better control over their operations.

Workplace Design as a distinct brand: a logical step

Within Meliopus’ broad range of services, Workplace Design has always held a special place. Positioned at the intersection of facility consulting and operational facility management, it naturally bridges strategy and execution. By positioning Meliopus Workplace Design as a distinct brand, this expertise became more visible and could be further strengthened. By combining facility knowledge with a strong focus on people-centred design, we create environments where people feel at home and can perform at their best. The workplace becomes a supportive asset rather than a limitation.

Facility Consulting as a strategic lever

Alongside Workplace Design, Facility Consulting remains a key pillar within Meliopus. Organisations today face increasingly complex challenges around efficiency, sustainability, governance and evolving ways of working. This is where we truly make a difference. Our consulting activities continue to grow year after year, and that is no coincidence. With an independent, people-centred and data-driven approach, we support clients across the entire facility life cycle: from strategy and analysis to implementation and follow-up. In Belgium, we are among the few players offering facility consulting in such an integrated and future-oriented way, always in close collaboration with our clients.

Operational Facility Management: from strategy to daily reality

A strong strategy only creates value when it is effectively brought to life. That is why Operational Facility Management remains an essential part of our services. We take ownership of day-to-day operations and ensure continuity, quality and peace of mind. By combining operational expertise with insights from consulting and workplace design, we bridge the gap between vision and execution. In this way, we support organisations not only in defining their facility ambitions, but also in sustainably realising them. Every single day, throughout the entire life cycle of their buildings and services.

What ten years of Meliopus has taught us

Ten years of Meliopus has taught us one core lesson: creating impact requires ambition, attention and the drive to do better every day. Through our collaborations with clients, we have learned that strong facility services are built on the right balance between efficiency and effectiveness. It’s not just about managing costs, but also about making conscious choices around sustainability and long-term value. And perhaps most importantly: the way you work together truly matters. Our sincere, direct and co-creative way of collaborating, side by side with our clients and close to their organisation, consistently delivers the best results.

We apply those same lessons within our own organisation. For our people, we aim for more than just a good job; we work every day on creating work happiness. That means building an inclusive, inspiring and engaging environment where involvement grows around a shared ambition and where there is genuine attention for the person behind the role. Health, work-life balance and the life phase someone is in are consciously taken into account. We know this is never a finished story, but a permanent focus that requires adjustment, sometimes even day by day.

More relevant than ever

Meliopus remains a values-driven and people-centred company. What has changed is our level of maturity. With more expertise, more experience and optimised ways of working and tools, we are able to support our clients even better today. We continue to invest in our organisation and our people, so we can keep offering efficient yet personalised solutions in an ever-evolving work environment.

In a world where work is constantly changing, one element remains constant: people make the difference. Today, this belief is no longer unique to Meliopus, globally, the focus is increasingly on the people behind organisations. That is exactly why, ten years after its foundation, Meliopus is more relevant than ever. Our conclusion? You can continue to rely on us. In every phase of your facility journey, we keep our finger on the pulse to help build a future-proof success story.

Thank you

Finally, we would like to thank everyone who has been part of the Meliopus story over the past ten years: clients, partners and employees, past and present. Your trust and collaboration made this anniversary possible and form the foundation for everything that still lies ahead.
